The Fear of Creating Something New

1st Edition - Exploring the Landscape

It took me too long to finally put together this first official edition of my newsletter, Recoveco. I thought I was completing things that were truly “important”, but I was really just avoiding sitting down and facing the fear of creating something new. This is probably familiar territory for you also.

This newsletter has been months, maybe years in the making. At times, I may not have known I was creating a newsletter, but that’s the beauty of creativity. Yes, I have an overarching vision, but the journey to there can look very different from day to day.

Recoveco is a word that has been swimming in my brain since I first read it in the pages of a book (possibly by a Latin American author like Jorge Luis Borges.) It has various translations in English, but the main one I’m thinking of is nook. I also love the look and sound of the word.

This newsletter is a nook for my creative expressions and perspectives, but I also hope that it becomes a community for other creative minds to learn, grow, and connect. To my surprise, I found out recoveco can also mean hidden turn, twist, or complication. This sounds a lot like the creative path we’re all on!

As of late, I’ve been exploring improved ways for artists, musicians, and other creators, to have a deeper (and more direct) relationship with their fans. This has included using myself as the guinea pig by exploring new platforms to share my own stuff (this newsletter platform is one of them), connecting with founders of various Superfan platforms, and researching the latest news in this arena that piques my interest.

Here’s one of the latest I posted about (with extra insight exclusive to the newsletter) ↴
